Iconic landmarks such as the century old Tudor Style Bathhouse, within the Government Gardens, lead on to Lake Rotorua and activity and sulphurous effects on the bird life can be observed. Legendary Mokoia Island, an unspoiled bird sanctuary, is seen in the middle of the Lake, and you'll hear the story of lovers, Hinemoa and Tutanekai, from long ago, whose descendants still live in Rotorua. You will also learn about Maori Migration to New Zealand. Next we head out past our burgeoning forests through to our lakes district. Your Duck becomes a boat in the Blue Lake surrounded by the beauty of the native Bush. From there continue your journey to Lake Okareka, once a holiday destination but now a lakeside suburb of Rotorua with its mix of traditional New Zealand batches nestled amongst luxury homes and lodges. You will also learn about and view the magnificent Mount Tarawera that exploded in 1886.
The Gineste and Crests roads will lead you to the outstanding site of Cap Canaille, from where you will appreciate the exceptional view of the bay of Cassis and the Gardiole Massif. Then, you will board on a maritime tour to discover the calanques and once back, you will have some free time to stroll in the streets of the small fishing part of Cassis.
